College & University Expert Database
|
This database was set up to facilitate communication between academic researchers and decision-makers.
With the 2000-2002 drought in Virginia and concern for water supply and water quality management,
there is an increased opportunity for the scientific/academic community to become involved and
provide technical assistance to decision-makers. It is vital that water-resource decisions made
by Virginia's legislators, state agencies, local officials, and the private sector be supported
by sound science.
Given the scarce public funds available to support water research and technical assistance,
a more effective, targeted, and coordinated use of financial and expert resources would be
possible through enhanced communication between academic researchers and decision-makers.
The expert directory will provide contact information for the Commonwealth's academia, state
agencies, local officials, and legislators, as well as the private sector.
