
The Water Center is supporting the 2026 VWMC Conference on September 29, 2026 at the Virginia Public Safety Training Facility (Knox Hall) in Hanover, Va. The conference runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 29, 2026. The program includes nine invited presentations on water monitoring and management. Presentations will range from water quality topics, such as the Potomac Interceptor sewage spill and salt pollution in freshwater streams, to water quantity issues related to data centers. Gain an appreciation for benthic macroinvertebrates and hellbender salamanders as sentinels of water quality. Hear how water quality monitoring connects to tribal engagement and discover how to participate in research on coastal flooding impacts through the Catch the King and Measure the Muck programs.

Applications are being accepted from full-time students for two scholarships that will be awarded to cover the registration fee for the conference.
