Jake Diamond is the 2017 William R. Walker Graduate Research Fellow

Jake is a third-year PhD student in Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation studying ecohydrology. Prior to Virginia Tech, Jake was a water resources consultant working on hydrology and water quality issues in the intermountain west. He was drawn back to research due to a lingering fascination with science and a desire to push the boundaries of knowledge. He is currently studying the self-organization of wetlands by investigating feedbacks between vegetation and hydrology.

Established to honor the late William Walker, the founding director of the Virginia Water Resources Research Center, this award has been given since 1999 to recognize and support graduate students in water resources who are pursuing work in a field different from their undergraduate study, or who have returned to school following a period of professional work.
