Opportunities

The Virginia Water Resources Research Center offers a number of opportunities in the form of internships, fellowships, and assistantships! Click below to find out more.

William R. Walker Graduate Fellowship

Graduate students from Virginia Tech are invited each spring to submit applications to the Virginia Water Resources Research Center for the William R. Walker graduate fellowship. Eligible applicants for the fellowship are individuals enrolled in a water resources-related graduate program at Virginia Tech and who did not study water resources as an undergraduate student, or individuals with work experience returning to graduate school

Undergraduate Water Scholarships and Research Fellowships

Opportunities are available for undergraduate students enrolled in the Water: Resources, Policy, and Management (WRPM) B.S. program at Virginia Tech.

Undergraduate Internships at the Center

Each year the Water Center supports a Virginia Tech student (second-semester sophomore or above) for a semester-long, paid internship. The Water Center envisions the internship as an opportunity for a student to experience learning and work activities that will enhance the student’s knowledge about, and skills useful for, a variety of possible water-related careers.

 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) internships

This program provides undergraduate and graduate students with career-enhancing field, laboratory, and research experience through participation in USGS activities as interns. The program is available in selected states. The Water Center facilitates these occasional internship opportunities for students at any Virginia college and university.  When there are available internships at Virginia Tech, they will be listed here.
